February 13, 2006 General Meeting Minutes

Attendance: 20
Cynthia, Elena, Dane, Courtney, Jessie, Chris, Aaron, Callie, Jordan, Steph, Megan, Christina, Melody, Kelly, Leslie, Gini, Sharay, Fericiaa, Nicki, & Katherine

Guests: Council Member Sue Schlapp, Kaci Tucker

New Member: Chris

Local Government: Sue Schlapp discussed ways we can partner in the community. She said that she can “Facilitate” talking to other city leaders. She also suggested being a Workshop Item” after their city council meetings. March 4, is the DAB 4 breakfast at the Woodlawn Spears at 10.

Link 4 Life Run/Walk- We will be helping with this event on April 8 in the morning. Sign ups are closed after this week.

Reward and Reminder- We discussed Danny’s presentation from several weeks ago. No members showed any interest in participating in this program.

WPYC Position- Since Brittany left last month, there is an open staff position. We are looking for someone young, qualified, energetic, and preferably WPYC alumni. Please give names if you think of someone in the upcoming weeks.

Committee Updates

Community Connections- DAB 1, 5, & 6 still need to set up their presentation this week. Each DAB needs to re-contact their person to ask about a projector or power point option. The following schools have committed to raising these items for the Street Outreach drive March 13-17

Bishop Carroll-Non-perishable Food
Collegiate-Journals & non-perishable food
Derby- Towels & hair supplies
Maize-Blow pops
Campus-Blow pops
North-Oral Hygiene
Southeast-Hygiene

ACTION- Thank-you for everyone who helped with the Dare 2 Dream conference last month. Our ACTION total is just under 900. Everyone is encouraged to get 25 within the next month from their school, church, or other group.

HOICT- Our 6 sites have been chosen: McAdams Park, Watson Park, Mclean Elem., Jackson Elem., Emerson Elem., & Spaght Elem. Sponsor meeting is Feb 27^th. All advertising should be reported to Steph by 2-27.

DAP- Follow up calls need to be made before Feb. 27^th.

Making Money- KHF grant, AngelWorks, Lattner Foundation, grants are underway.

Next Meeting is Committees on 2-27 from 5:30PM – 8:30PM General on March 13^th @ WSU (NEW MEMBER NITE!!)
