Youth as Resources

WPYC is in the process of applying for funds to start a Youth as Resources Program (YAR). Developed in 1995 by the National Crime Prevention Council, Youth As Resources is a program that recognizes youth as valuable resources in their community and engages them as partners with adults in bringing about positive community change. YAR programs are governed by a local board of youth and adults responsible for awarding grants to youth-led and youth initiated projects. WPYC's hope is that local youth will become empowered to tackle a wide range of social problems that affect Sedgwick County.
