WPYC is active in Youth on Board (YOB) which helps young people and adults think differently about each other so that they can work together to change the local community. Together they work to not only build skills, but to also develop mutually respectful relationships across generations. WPYC is involved in district advisory boards within Sedgwick County by presenting information from ACTION 2003. ACTION 2003
ranked the top five issues concerning area teenagers as follows: 1) Teen Sex/Teen Pregnancy, 2) Violence, 3) Drugs, 4) Rape, and 5) Alcohol. In 2004, WPYC plans to present these results to the community. Additionally, WPYC will maintain communication with city representatives and organizations and meet quarterly with city council, county commissions, school principals and school boards to introduce the ACTION 2003 findings. During October 2004, WPYC presented the ACTION results to the City Council and County Commissioners and received amazing responses.
